Thank you, friends, for starting me off on the right foot.
Today's post is in honor of Melissa's big move (and hopefully you can use this idea too).
I like to keep family scrapbooks and I like to keep them simple. Most years I pick a kind of theme or principle to follow. Last year I kept notes through the year: charming things the kids said, notable weather, what we were reading, meals to remember. (I actually made a list of a dozen or so categories, photocopied it 12 times and used that. Why reinvent the wheel?) I also cut a pile of paper scraps into 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" rectangles to be used on each page.
When I felt like making a little bitty artwork, I would create a title card for each month. (July, above, is made from We R Memory Keepers paper scraps and an opaque white souffle pen by Sakura.)
At the end of the year, I gathered my notes, title cards, bits of memorabilia, and a few photos, and put it all together. Our year in a nutshell.
Melissa has beautiful twin girls -- wouldn't this work great for their first year? You probably already have what you need!
Gina-
You are too sweet! Thank you for your blog today in honor of me! And I LOVE that idea, I remember when I saw the month cards you created and I told I was going to steal it...I love it so much! I am doing a family book too, so that is just what I need cute and simple.
Thanks so much! I sure hope I can do this full-time mom thing :)
Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
