Art Night is more than the usual hanging out with art supplies. I find a big open-ended project works best with my kids -- like the "snowless snowpeople" made of popsicle sticks and scraps of fabric, felt, ribbon, etc. They like a specific project, but one that gives them lots of options. Art Night also means more than one project available -- I usually plan at least two, in case they don't groove on the first one. Bonus: because the kids spread out on my studio table, I can tidy up my office or work on scrapbooks at the same time.
We are overdue for another Art Night around here.
