Enter any of this week's giveaways through Sunday for a chance to win. I'll draw names & post winners on Monday. The winners will need to contact me to claim their prizes; details will be in that post. (For info on how to enter, click on the Anniversary Giveaway Rules/19 in upper left corner!)
I saved my favorite for last:
Today's giveaway: A hand-dyed, hand-painted, and hand-stitched wrist cuff with the word "dream." It's made of knit, so it will accommodate most wrist sizes. (If your wrist is reallly small, I could move the button over.)
Today's question: I stitched one of these for myself last week and have worn it three times already. What is one little thing you do for yourself/to yourself that gives you that extra little something?
Bonus question (answer this one in a separate comment for an extra chance to win): I'm thinking of offering these in my shop. Would you be more likely to buy a finished cuff ($40-45) or a kit to stitch your own (around $20)?
I love accessories...jewelry and bags that have unique touches. Within Le Donne, we've started to refer to adding some special stitching to things as "Gina-fy." As in, why don't you get those new plain denim overalls and "Gina-fy" them? ( :

I would probably buy the kit. Because I love hand stitching now that you've show me how. ( :

Rachel, I think a cuff would be a great project for Le Donne in September, don't you?

Oh....I got to see one of these live and up close and I loved it!
I love to buy myself a special publication (book or magazine) every once in awhile that sinks me into a land of inspiration!

I would buy the finished product...I'm not good at stitching.
For the record, I love "gina-fy" as a word. Doesn't that mean you are truly successful -- when your name/product becomes the accepted term for something? e.g. "I'm going to FED EX" it. Or "I'll google that term"... Gina-fy is my new one! Thanks for sharing that ladies!

I love to go to yoga and to knit.....lately it's been much easier for some reason to knit, but I am going to get back to the yoga studio very soon! I would buy the kit - it would be fun to expand beyond knitting -

I do cross-stitch in the small amount of time that I sometimes have for myself.

If I had more time, I'd be more inclined to buy a kit. However, I don't so a finished product would be best. Why don't you offer both?

i have a nice collection of vintage brooches. i usually don't wear jewelry but when i wear a brooch, people notice (because they are super-grandmotherly) and it makes me smile.

hmmm...i would agree with katherine that offering both could appeal to crafters & non-crafters alike!

A wee thing for myself is to write a poem whenever the mood takes me throughout the day. It's such a joyful feeling and is lovely to read much later too. It's important to do special little things for oneself and to make that time.

Since I've gone to one of your classes, Gina, I'd now be more inclined to buy the kit. Otherwise, I'd have bought the ready-made as I never considered myself to have sewing skills. :-)

oooo i do love that cuff....i'm betting you got a ton of comliments! i love to stitch little doo dads for myself and a friend of relation...you know, make two at a time...i made little needlebooks recently...wool felt..also a tiny little "felted quilt"...only 6" and little wool 1" squares...pretty cute and tons of fun.

2nd question...this one's a tuffy....i think you should do some of each....i personally would prefer a kit, but lots of folks don't have the time or need a little last minute treat and would love the opportunity to order a ready made cuff...(me on lazy days!) so...do a few of each!

Is there anything better than relaxing during a pedicure with a good book? I don't think so. :)

I'd like to try a kit ... looks like fun!

Pedicures! Ahhh, I need them for a little pamper me time!

spending some time focused on being creative--even just doodling--usually can always make me feel better. if that doesn't work, i'm often tempted to shop.
Posted by: amelia | May 20, 2011 at 02:50 PM
I would go for the finished cuff since I can't sew ;)
Posted by: Sarah | May 20, 2011 at 02:50 PM
i think the kit would be more fun, so that's what i'd be more likely to go for... though either would be, of course, awesome.

I like to give myself time to be with friends. Life is no fun unless you have someone to spend it with.

The finished cuff not a lot of people could sew as well as you can.

I like to sit alone in the midnight hour and have a nice hot cup of tea in one of my favorite vintage teacups.
Posted by: madelia | May 20, 2011 at 05:33 PM
Get up early while the house is quiet (or stay up late) and have tea and get lost in thought.
Posted by: Theresa | May 20, 2011 at 09:15 PM
I would offer both--for both crafty and non crafty types :)
