Red + elephants.

I love when a customer I've worked with through the years comes to me and says, "I need some notecards.  I like red and elephants."  Creating small sets of custom notecards is soooo much easier than it was when I started designing.  Once upon a time, everything had to be printed offset, which meant making a plate and producing a large enough quantity to make it worthwhile.  Now I can easily print off a batch of 20 in black on my printer (still adding color by hand to each and every card) and everybody's happy.

Teacher gift week, part two.

I know what it's like to have a lot of teachers I want to thank and not a lot of funds in the budget.  Enter these notecards:  only $12 for a sweet set of 10. 

Written and illustrated by hand, the motif on each set varies: stars, leaves, an apple, a pencil -- whatever looks best with the individual name (or whatever you have your heart set on).  Sale ends Sunday.

Sweet birthday invitations.

I love working with Nicola -- we worked on wedding invitations together, then baby announcements and holiday cards, and earlier this spring a party invitation which was so fun to assemble for her.  Back in the "old days" it was difficult (i.e., expensive) to create a small set of invitations and I didn't get to do it very often.  Digital printing lets me work on a much larger variety of projects, from a set of a dozen notecards that I can print in-house to 400 birthday cards for a commercial client in Montana.

Holiday wrap-up, part one.

New Year's Day for me:  reading in bed, snuggling while reading aloud, card games, sneaking out with the boy for a late lunch, more reading aloud, board games, a family movie.  None of my typical reflection or planning, just a full day of being present.  The rest of the week I'll take time to look ahead; but for now, here are a few of my favorite projects from the holiday season (part one):

Adoption book stickers.

I've had a stream of unusual -- and fun -- projects come way in the last few months.

One of the first was this set of stickers for customers in Colorado (via The Envelope Please, one of my favorite places in Boulder!).  I had created Dave & Becky's wedding stationery a few years ago, and this spring they asked me to design some stickers they could use in their adoption albums.

When I get to make things like this, I try hard to think about the customer and infuse my work with good intentions.  Best of luck in the adoption process, Dave & Becky!
